Robyn Duttenhefner awarded Tom & Mary Probst Scholarship

2015 Aug 5

Robyn Duttenhefner of Menoken, N.D., is the recipient of the Tom & Mary Probst Scholarship. The $2,500 scholarship, awarded $1,250 per semester, will help Duttenhefner pursue a degree from BSC beginning in the fall of 2015.

The Tom & Mary Probst Scholarship is awarded to students who live west of Hwy. 83 and have demonstrated academic excellence. Recipients must carry 15 credit hours at BSC and earn a 3.5 GPA the first semester to qualify for the second semester award.

Tom and Mary Probst established this endowed scholarship for academic excellence with the Bismarck State College Foundation in 2005. Former business owners in the Minot, N.D., area, the couple now administer individual family farms in Burke County and have a long history of community service.

"I started out as janitor and ended up as president," says Tom, who shares his parent's belief in education along with Mary. "You can lose everything, but education is something that can't be taken away from you. Statistics prove that people with a college or trade school education excel and earn a higher income throughout life."

The BSC Foundation is committed to the encouragement and support of academic excellence. Through the support of many generous benefactors, the BSC Foundation is able to budget more than $625,000 in scholarship awards each year.
