Aimee Kittilson awarded the Ken & Anne Shaffer Memorial Scholarship

Aimee Kittilson of Killdeer, N.D., is the recipient of the Ken & Anne Shaffer Memorial Scholarship awarded by the Bismarck State College Foundation. The $4,000 scholarship, awarded $2,000 per year, will help Kittilson pursue a degree from BSC beginning in the fall of 2015.

The Ken & Anne Shaffer Memorial Scholarship is awarded to an incoming freshman who is enrolled in a program which leads to a bachelor's degree. The award is considered a two-year award and recipients must carry 15 credit hours at BSC and earn a 3.5 GPA the first semester to qualify for the second semester award.

The BSC Foundation established this perpetual scholarship fund in honor of the Shaffers in 1997. Benefactors Ken and Anne Shaffer of Bismarck, N.D., are the retired business owners of Atlas, Inc., one of the largest construction materials and contracting companies in the United States.

The BSC Foundation is committed to the encouragement and support of academic excellence. Through the support of many generous benefactors, the BSC Foundation is able to budget more than $625,000 in scholarship awards each year.
